Nasi Goreng

Nasi goreng, literally meaning “fried rice” in both the Malay and Indonesian languages, is an Indonesian rice dish with pieces of meat and vegetables added.

  • 4 rashers of Ramsay bacon snipped into bits
  • 1 leek, prepared and sliced
  • A drizzle of Summer Harvest Rapeseed Oil
  • 150g long grain rice
  • 100g Seasonal Vegetables
  • Chanterelles
  • 3 tbsp Fruit Chutney
  • Freshly milled black pepper
  • Sea salt to taste
  • 1 Egg


1. Heat oil in a wok and cook bacon until crispy, also sautéing leek
2. Cut any root vegetables into fine strips and add to the pan
3. Add Chutney, mushrooms and season
4. Meanwhile cook rice in a pan of boiling salted water for 12 minutes. Drain and add to wok. Stir
5. Make omelette by whisking egg with seasoning and make thin pancake by pouring mix into a hot pan
6. Allow to set then turn to lightly brown other side. Cut into slices

Serve bowlfuls topped with ribbons of eggs
